Paediatric Dentistry

Paediatric Dentistry

We believe the younger the better when it comes to children’s dental care. It is never too early to start considering your child’s oral health. By nurturing a good oral health routine, you give them the gift of healthy teeth and gums which will greatly impact on your child’s health in the future.

What Exactly Is Pediatric Dentistry

A Paediatric dentist commits their careers to the treatment of children. They are qualified dentists who have trained a further three years of specialist qualifications in Paediatric Dentistry.
This training provides the skills necessary to deliver the highest quality of dental care for all children from infancy to adolescence. Paediatric dentists are specially trained in advanced treatment techniques and child behaviour management to help treat anxious children, children with special health needs and to help give every child a positive and happy dental experience.

Our friendly and dedicated team will do everything they can to welcome your little ones and help them feel at ease so that their visit is a stress free and educational one. If your child is feeling anxious, please let us know ahead of time and we’ll do our best to give them an especially warm and friendly welcome to Smiles Dental.

Our preventative dentistry for children goes beyond simple treatments to fix problems. At a young age, teaching a routine of dental hygiene, identifying and fixing potential future issues and teaching children to care about their dental health is extremely important.

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I BRING MY CHILD FOR THEIR FIRST DENTAL CHECK UP?

As soon as the first sets of teeth are coming through, it’s worth checking with a dentist. Although milk teeth will fall out eventually, it’s important to keep an eye on the way they come through, as it can be a telltale sign about how their adult teeth will look. We’ll also be able to help older children learn how to take care of their adult teeth.

HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD KEEP THEIR TEETH IN BETTER SHAPE?

Build a good habit! While we can explain how and why your child should take care of their teeth, children will always copy what their parents are doing. If you make dental hygiene fun, taking care when brushing and flossing, you’ll set an example that will help your child keep their teeth in perfect shape.
